Responsible for static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives. Works on problems/projects of diverse complexity and scope. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution. May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision-making process. Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
Typically a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 6 plus years related experience or Masters degree and a minimum of 4-6 years experience.

Primary responsibilities will include:
1. Leading the design efforts for the development of Scanner mechanical/electrical systems including assemblies, automatic document feeders, and control panels, as examples. This will include development of plastic part and sheet metal parts, as well as, coordination of geographic cross-functional issues.
2. Lead the ScanJet specification and qualification for scanners.
3. Lead the mechanical design implementation efforts corporate Industrial Design initiatives.
4. Assist in the development and execution of margin and specification test plans during development
5. Investigate and provide countermeasures for mechanically induced image artifacts and other system margin and functionality deficiencies.
6. CAD expertise is a must
